Surplus Project sees Loewe leather strips beautified
Spanish luxury house Loewe has reimagined its Woven basket bag as part of its Surplus Project, which involves rethinking and reusing high-quality surplus materials from previous collections.
Loewe said that incorporating leftover strips of smooth classic and finely textured soft-grained leather in a braided lattice formation with its newest design represents a “step towards circularity” for the brand.
The accompanying social media campaign around the bag shows Loewe artisan of twenty years Ana María Muñoz at work on a Woven bag, which first appeared in the house’s spring-summer 2015 collection (creative director, Jonathan Anderson’s debut presentation).
