Latest Loewe collab full of international ‘spirit’

Following on from last year’s initial collaboration, LVMH-owned Spanish luxury house Loewe has again teamed up with Japan’s Studio Ghibli on a collection of footwear, apparel, leathergoods and other accessories.

This time around, Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, picked the animation studio’s Spirited Away film from 2001 as the range’s creative catalyst.

The brand’s classic Flamenco and Puzzle bags are among the leathergoods to subsequently feature characters from the film as prominent visual motifs thanks to use of leather marquetry, for example.

Varying textures have been achieved across the collection via employment of patchwork, appliqué, intarsia and embroidery techniques, moreover.

In celebration of the launch, pop-up boutiques have sprouted up around the world, from Dubai to Hong Kong to Tokyo’s Harajuku.
