Shushu/Tong collabs with Charles & Keith
Singaporean footwear and accessories brand Charles & Keith recently teamed up with Shanghai-based fashion label Shushu/Tong on a limited-edition, three-piece capsule collection consisting of a Mary Jane shoe style in two colourways, plus two small shoulder bag designs.
In joining hands with the Singaporean company, Shushu/Tong has entered into its first ever collaboration since the brand was founded in 2015.
The capsule’s square-toed, patent leather Mary Jane pumps, available in both red and black colours (in harmony with the wider collection’s red-and-black-hued palette), incorporate a prominent, three-dimensional rose detail - a key motif across each of the three pieces - on either strap.
The two handbags, both of which can be worn either on the shoulder or as a top handle, feature a satin body with a natural calf leather strap and interior. Whereas the red bag features an all-over rose print design, the black version has been embellished with a single black rose in patent leather.
Friends and fellow designers Liushu Lei and Yutong Jiang, the creative minds behind Shushu/Tong, commented that their contrasting use of red and black was intended to represent “passion and sophistication”. They said that the ephemeral beauty of the rose was a significant source of inspiration.
Design director at Charles & Keith, Fredie Stevens, added: “It was a pleasure collaborating with the dynamic Shushu/Tong duo. We’ve followed their brand’s evolution closely over the years and are great admirers of their work and design aesthetic. The latter has been beautifully synched with Charles & Keith’s signature shapes to create this truly unique collection.”
In related news, Korean-American singer and actress Krystal was recently announced as Charles & Keith’s first global brand ambassador, beginning with the launch of its spring 2022 campaign in February.
