Clarks Originals makes shoes from surplus leather

Somerset, England-headquartered footwear brand Clarks’ heritage arm Originals, home to the Desert, Wallabee, Weaver and Trigenic ranges, recently released a new style, the Wallabee Patch, made from surplus leather.

The brand described the camouflage-style leather and suede upper as sustainable, owing to its use of leftover materials for the moccasin.

Adding to this, Clarks further explained how the new shoe can therefore boast an “environmentally conscious, distinctively crafted profile” on its website, where it also highlighted its use of a Forest Stewardship Council-certified rubber crepe sole.

The Clarks company was acquired by Hong Kong-based private equity firm LionRock Capital in March.
