LVMH materials resale platform confirmed
Nona Source, an online business-to-business resale platform for LVMH-owned leather and textiles, recently went live with an initial offering from an unnamed LVMH fashion house.
In a bid to become a more circular business, the group has made 1,000 metres of leather and 100,000 metres of fabrics exclusively available to buyers in the UK and Europe. This is in-keeping with Nona Source’s sustainable vision, a press release said, as it cuts down on the transport of the deadstock, all of which is located in France.
Only exclusive patterns or branded fabrics are unavailable. Otherwise, creatives may peruse an all-digital catalogue of around 500 different “prestigious” fabrics of varying composition, weight, colour and pattern.
The system works by Nona Source buying select unused stock from brands within the LVMH group, re-valuing the materials at “competitive prices” and then ultimately re-presenting them for sale online via a tech-forward “digital sensorial experience”, which replaces the traditional in-person touch and feel experience. No cutting or sampling is allowed.
Nona Source is the result of three LVMH employees’ vision and was incubated by the conglomerate’s DARE (Disrupt, Act, Risk to be an Entrepreneur) intrapreneurial programme for over a year prior to launch.
