LVMH to recruit 25,000 under 30s by end 2022
In an especially corporate social responsibility (CSR)-focused push, Paris-based luxury goods group LVMH recently revealed plans to recruit 25,000 young people under the age of 30 by the close of 2022.
This figure includes the onboarding of 5,000 new interns or apprentices, plus 2,500 new employees on permanent contracts exclusive to those residing in France. The remaining recruits will be selected from among global applicants.
Director of human resources and synergies at the group, Chantal Gaemperle, commented: “At a time when the covid-19 crisis has particularly affected the younger generations and impacted their employability, LVMH intends to accompany and support them in a concrete way to build their careers.”
Part of this also involves what the company is calling its “craft the future” programme. Initially operated as a pilot, the education-oriented project – available to join online here – has been made open-access, with the express intention being to pass on learnings about several different luxury trades and help prepare under 30s for career success in the industry.
Notably, the educational platform, called Inside LVMH, will offer a new cohort of students the chance to progress through a 30-hour, LVMH-designed curriculum, complete with the opportunity to obtain an official certificate of completion, on September 28. The curriculum will take the form of a mixture of modules and hands-on case studies, the group said.
For those who do not wish to earn a certificate, there are already 50 hours’ worth of exclusive content related to LVMH’s six luxury business sectors online.
“Beyond the recruitment figures, it is essential for the group to commit to the employability of young people by improving the visibility and knowledge of our expert trades,” Ms Gaemperle added.
In this vein, LVMH also again spotlighted its Métiers d’Excellence programme, the intention behind which is to pass on and preserve the company’s skills heritage, in addition to recruiting experts in craft and sales.
