The sixth edition of Dior Lady Art is due to be unveiled in Shanghai in November.
Shenzhen’s share of the fruits, all picked from previous exhibitions, are on view at the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning from September 25 through October 20.
Different sections of the exhibition will highlight the French fashion and leathergoods brand’s relationship with artists (late founder Christian Dior was formerly a gallerist), with one area dedicated to the travelling exhibition Lady Dior As Seen By and another given over to articles selected from previous editions of Dior Lady Art. Another still will feature work by winners of Dior’s various art and photography prizes.
Shanghai's forthcoming presentation of new Dior Lady Art works will show articles fashioned by 12 contemporary artists, including two from China: Zhang Huan and Li Songsong.
According to reports, Beijing-born Mr Lee, who is represented by Pace Gallery, will take three used Lady Dior bags in three different sizes as something of a canvas for a triptych-like reinterpretation of one of his earlier print works from 2018, Swordsmanship (III).
The artist has been linked with the house of Dior since 2008, when he participated in a group show called Christian Dior and Chinese Artists at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in the nation’s capital.
