Hermès premieres artisanal event in Copenhagen
The city of Copenhagen is currently hosting what luxury brand Hermès described as but the first chapter in its travelling event series, Hermès in the Making, next set to jet off to “several cities worldwide” in 2022.
Until October 24, fans of the Parisian house are encouraged to visit the Danish capital’s flagship architecture centre, DAC, where the brand is hosting a free, artisanship-focused event consisting of displays, roundtables and conferences.
Hermès said the scenography of the pop-up features four themes central to its identity: preservation and transmission of know-how, respect for and quality of materials, commitment to the long-term and regional anchoring.
The saddle-stitching of a Kelly bag, the crafting of a pair of gloves and how to assemble an Hermès Vivace show jumping saddle will all be exhibited by genuine company leatherworkers. Artisans from other métiers (trades) such as silk-printing are also in attendance.
Other recent Hermès pop-ups have included a temporary “gym” concept in the Chinese city of Chengdu this past spring.
