Paris-based luxury fashion and leathergoods brand Balmain recently announced the recruitment of former Versace executive Lily Liu, for whom the house has specially created a new post specific to Greater China.

The market is Balmain’s second most significant after the United States.

At Versace, Ms Liu spent two years as vice-president for China. Possessing 25 years of Chinese luxury experience in total, she has also held leadership roles at Bottega Veneta, Dior and Lanvin.

Balmain chief executive, Jean-Jacques Guéval, commented that he was confident that the executive will “help guide both the house and its growing team” as the brand continues to expand throughout the region.

Ms Liu will commence work in her new position on November 12. Her first tasks will include supporting the opening of new own brand boutiques in Chengdu, Chongqing and Hainan in the run-up to January 2022.
