Dior cements university pledge with Korean show

After entering into a partnership with private, Seoul-based women’s university Ewha as part of its Women@Dior initiative this past March, LVMH-owned luxury brand Dior is now set to stage its first runway show in South Korea since 2007 within the institution’s campus.

Fifteen years ago, the Parisian house staged an Asia-Pacific runway show at the Olympic Park in Seoul to commemorate its sixtieth anniversary.

Scheduled to take place on April 30, the brand will present its pre-fall 2022 fashion collection, which will also typically include leathergoods such as handbags. Dior’s pre-fall 2021 runway event was held in Shanghai.

“This year, the house is forging new, powerful ties with [South Korea],” commented company chairman and chief executive, Pietro Beccari.

According to local media reports, Dior’s decision to cement its ties to Ewha Womans University is rooted in the perceived beauty of its campus, in addition to a keen desire to continue to strengthen its partnership with the institution, founded in 1886.
