Ugandan tannery technicians attend ALLPI training clinic

The session, which took place at hide and skin exporter Leatherland’s premises near to the town of Masaka, was led by leather experts from Turkish chemicals specialist United Chemicals and ALLPI tannery expert, Harrison Mungai.
It was attended by tannery technicians from Leatherland, SWT tannery and Kyambogo University.
The training focused on leather production for footwear uppers. It covered the steps from raw hide to crust stage, with an emphasis on process control to avoid chemical waste and achieve the required end product. This included raw material selection, beamhouse operations and post-tanning processes and operations.
