Uganda seeks Indian investors for tanning industry

The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, has paid tribute to the nation’s Indian community for their role in the economic and social development of the country.

Speaking at a dinner organised for Indians living in Uganda at the start of December, he said they had “played a big role in Uganda’s development.”

He also used the event to urge Indian business leaders to invest further in Uganda and suggested they could take advantage of the “unexploited potential” in a range of sectors, including raw materials, manufacturing of fabrics and leather tanning.

President Museveni said what Uganda most needs is greater value addition to the products that it exports.
