Uganda President Yoweri Museveni has launched the construction of a $220 million agricultural industrial park that will create 25,000 jobs.

The Kehong China-Uganda Agricultural Industrial Park (CUAIP) will be built in Luweero District and will be the first in the country dedicated primarily to agriculture. There are already plans to open another park in Kaweweta.

President Museveni said the new development aims to help local farmers increase their income through improved technology and urged Ugandans to take advantage of the project to expand production.

"Our people need to shift to modern agricultural means such as the industrial parks where modern agriculture is practiced. The new project will boost farming practices in this area," he said.
