The Ethiopia-based COMESA-Leather and Leather Products Institute organised a retreat to reward staff for their hard work on the Ten Year Strategic Action Plan, which will come into force next year.

Staff reportedly thanked executive director Prof Mwinyikione Mwinyihija for introducing a culture of involving all staff in the planning and implementation of the institute’s activities.

The aim of the ten-year plan is to link leather companies and tanneries in east and southern Africa with enterprises and institutions, to share knowledge and adopt innovation. The plan has been drawn up with input from Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and the International Trade Centre.
