COMESA grant will push Ethiopia to further manufacturing progress

The money will help fund a new information centre for the private sector in Ethiopia, which should help industry associations build up their technical capacity and their ability to help their own member companies keep up to date with trade agreements and international trade regulations.
On making the announcement, COMESA secretary-general, Sindiso Ngwenya, praised the development of the manufacturing sector in Ethiopia in recent years, singling out leather production as one of its success stories. He said: “Ethiopia is quickly emerging as a manufacturing hub in the region and the government has focused on manufacturing as an engine for growth.”
