The COMESA-Leather and Leather Products Institute (LLPI) and the Commonwealth Secretariat have helped launched a Regional Design Studio (RDS) project to help Africans in the leather industry be more competitive in the international market.

The launch took place in the Kenyan city of Mombasa and was attended by Adan Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Kenya and COMESA secretary general Sindiso Ngwenya.

The RDS aims to facilitate entry of the region’s leather and leather products into the international market in a sustainable manner. The Commonwealth Secretariat’s Trade Competitiveness section will provide technical guidance for the project.
