Rwanda targets youth for agribusiness

Rwanda has launched an initiative to encourage the country’s youth to change their mindset on agribusiness.

The agriculture sector employs more than 70% of the Rwandan population and the Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) aims to inspire young people to pursue a career in the industry.

Speaking at the launch of the event in Kigali, minister for youth and ICT Jean Philbert Nsengimana said: "When you ask what is really lacking for our youth to make their mark in agribusiness, you realise only mindset is the biggest challenge in transforming agriculture into a business-driven and oriented sector."
