COMESA carries out training mission to Burundi

A team of experts from the COMESA-Leather and Leather Products Institute (LLPI) visited Burundi at the end of November to conduct a training course.

The delegation was led by the institute’s executive director, Professor Mwinyikione Mwinyihija, and also featured Prof Mekonnen Hailemariam, its leather chain value expert, and Nicholas Mudungwe, a leather cluster expert. 

The COMESA team delivered a training course entitled “Governance, cluster implementation procedures and administration” to small- and medium-sized leather footwear and leathergoods manufacturers. There were 20 companies in total in attendance, as well as 7 representatives from Burundi’s ministry of trade and industry.
