ALLPI assesses tanneries in Burundi

03/03/2022
Members of the Ethiopia-based Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) toured tanneries and manufacturers in Burundi as part of an event to promote trade development in the country.

Burundi’s government identified 24 priority projects for 2022 including research and innovation, revitalisation of the industrial sector and the development of artisans, and invited members of the World Food Programme, UNIDO and others to help with the planning.

As part of the trip, the ALLPI delegation visited an SMEs incubation centre, which had new equipment and tools supplied through the association, as well as CD Technology, a leather furniture factory, and the Afritan and SINOBU tanneries.
