African countries mull intra-regional supply chains
Members of the Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) represented the leather industry at a meeting of dairy, poultry, meat producers from COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) countries.

The importance of establishing intra-regional dairy, poultry, meat and leather product supply chains was top of the agenda at the meeting in Nairobi, attended by representatives from Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

There was a particular focus on linking small and medium-sized producers, especially women, young people and vulnerable groups, with regional and international markets.
