ALLPI leads workshops in Madagascar

14/08/2019
The Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) recently co-organised a series of workshops and training sessions for members of Madagascar’s leather industry. The country’s ministry of trade, industry and handicrafts was also involved.

The topics covered included vegetable tanning, with a training session delivered to the more than 40 participants. They included representatives of public and private institutions and businesses.

There was also a workshop to discuss a strategy for the Madagascan leather value chain. It involved examining the leather sector’s current performance and identifying gaps in both the footwear and leathergoods sectors. A total of six strategic objectives were set.

Participants took part in field trips to tanneries, footwear workshops and boutiques as part of the programme.
