Welcome return of AALF event
The All Africa Leather Fair (AALF), Africa’s biggest international exhibition and conference for the leather value chain, bought its 2021 edition to a successful conclusion in Addis Ababa on December 6.
Travel restrictions limited visitor numbers in comparison with previous years, but industry representatives from many parts of Africa welcomed the return of the event as an opportunity to see new products and meet vendors again.
Organiser, the Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI), has a mandate to support the development of the leather sector in the region. Its membership covers Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
One long-time AALF participant, Pittards, which makes leather and finished leather products in Ethiopia, described this year’s event as “an excellent opportunity to showcase our leather, gloves, apparel, footwear and accessory manufacturing capability”. It said its vertically integrated proposition was highly valued by customers sourcing from Ethiopia.
