A total of 661 participants were present at the event in Kampala which was attended by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
Each graduate spent six months training in a number of skills such as tailoring, baking, weaving, knitting, shoemaking and manufacturing of leather products.
After presenting the students with working machines related to the skills they acquired, President Museveni urged them to take advantage of the domestic market to sell their products and keep themselves and their families out of poverty.
He also decried the export of raw materials and the import of finished products, which he said are depriving the country’s young people of job opportunities. He added that the government was willing to provide the machinery and start-up capital required to help them start their own businesses.
