Leather investment opportunities on the agenda at Sudan-Uganda forum

The key aim of the event was to explore how economic relations between the two countries could be enhanced by means of new opportunities for investment and partnerships.
The Sudanese delegation was led by the country’s minister of agriculture, Abdul-Latif Al-Ejaimi, who said relations between the countries are moving in the right direction. He added that he was expecting successful joint economic projects to take place in the future.
Mr Al-Ejaimi said both Sudan and Uganda are ripe for agricultural investment and stressed the need for agricultural products to be processed domestically so that value can be added to them before export.
Among the other areas discusses as potential mutual investment opportunities were minerals, tea, transport, cotton and leather. The establishment of a Sudan-Uganda free trade zone was also proposed.
