ALLPI delivers glovemaking training in Zambia

The Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI), formerly known as COMESA-LLPI, led a training session dedicated to glovemaking at the Chingola Leather Cluster in Zambia in November.

The training, which took place from November 19-26, was supported by representatives from the Ethiopia Leather Industry Development Institute (LIDI).

The session was conducted by Alemzenash Endale, leathergoods and glove technician from LIDI, with the support of Stephen Kawyanta, from the Zambia Leather Industry Association. 

The topics covered included: pattern preparation and measurement, cutting glove patterns, quality inspection, machine control, stitching, and assembly and finishing. 

A total of 20 SMEs took part. They were drawn from the Chingola Leather Cluster and from other leather clusters.
