Car seat maker uses Lectra solution as springboard into new markets

Car seat manufacturer Bertrandt has adopted Lectra’s DesignConcept for the seat covers it makes French carmakers and says the efficiencies will enable it to expand.

The French subsidiary of the German group is looking to accelerate its development process to speed up its quotation process and improve communication with suppliers.

The company had previously developed its templates manually but was unable to use soft materials when working with digitised foam shapes. This led to significant modifications when the foam was compressed by the seat cover.

“The modules will enable us to optimise current and future developments. This is an opportunity for Bertrandt to expand our business and develop new markets,” says David Boismaigre, manager of the interiors department at the French arm of Bertrandt.

The Bertrandt Group employs 11,500 at 46 locations. In September 2014, group revenues were €870.6 million.
