German furniture firm chooses Lectra technology to overhaul leather-cutting
Automated cutting technology provider Lectra has announced that German furniture manufacturer Polipol Group will adopt its latest leather-cutting solution, Versalis, as part of a project to overhaul its leather-cutting processes.

Polipol, which has 5,000 employees across seven sites in Europe, has said specifically that it believes the new technology from Lectra, which has the capacity to help user organisations improve leather quality control, achieve better hide-use rates and productivity and improve workflow, can help it grow its €400 million business.

“I could not have imagined undertaking this important and challenging project with anyone other than Lectra,” said Polipol managing director and owner, Gerd Hemmerling, at the time of the announcement.

For her part, Lectra’s marketing director for automotive and furniture, Ce´line Choussy Bedouet, pointed out that the two companies had together undergone a detailed scoping exercise before the project began and that Lectra’s professional services teams would continue to work closely with Polipol to make sure the furniture manufacturer is able to use Versalis to the greatest possible effect. She said:
“Lectra has been working with the Polipol Group for over 20 years, but this is by far our most ambitious project to date. We are excited and proud that the company has renewed its confidence in Lectra and in our expertise, not only in leather cutting automation projects, but also in terms of change management. We expect great results and a fruitful collaboration between experts.”
