Automotive leather conference a success and will become an annual event
25/03/2015
Working in partnership with World Leather, Lectra organised the inaugural Future of Automotive Leather conference at its research and development centre near Bordeaux on March 24 and 25. An extensive group of automotive tanners, tier-one seating manufacturers and automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) from all parts of the world attended.
At the end of the event, which included detailed presentations from industry experts and demonstrations of Lectra’s Versalis leather-cutting system, the technology provider’s marketing director for automotive and furniture, Céline Choussy Bedouet, said: “This event was a success and we intend to do it on a yearly basis. The future is bright for this community because there will be growth in the premium car market of 32% between now and 2020 and leather will be the cornerstone of that premium market. But this also presents tanners, OEMs and tier-ones with a set of challenges because innovation and investment are going to be required. This means working in partnership, because we need to find solutions together.”
