Record sales for BMW despite Rolls-Royce dip
Germany’s BMW has become the latest automotive group to report record sales in 2017. It marked the seventh consecutive year that the group has achieved an annual record.

Total global sales for the year were 2,463,526, a 4.1% increase compared to 2016. This was led by growth of 4.2% from the BMW brand, which makes up more than 80% of the group’s total sales.

The news was less positive for BMW’s luxury Rolls-Royce brand, which saw sales fall 16.2% to 3,362. The group said this result came as a result of the absence of the Phantom from the market due to a model-changeover and due to “unsettled market conditions” in the Middle East.

By region, total BMW group sales increased 0.9% in Europe and 13.6% in Asia, but fell 2% in the Americas.
