Exhibits on display at the Lanxess stand also included leathergoods, shoes and clothing. Plus, in an effort to show how the impression beautiful leather can make in automotive interiors, the company put a BMW Z4 on display at its stand.
Dr Thomas Brackemeyer, head of the organic leather chemicals business line in the Lanxess leather business unit, picked out silicone-based waterproofing agent Levotan W as one of the product highlights, describing it as being easily dispersible in the float so that it can be fully incorporated into the leather, allowing for consistent colouring.
Leathers produced in this way would be particularly suited to applications such as uppers for hiking boots or golf shoes, Lanxess said. “Leather made with this product displays a fine grain, a high level of water vapour permeability and a natural feel,” Dr Brackemeyer said in Chennai.
