Record sales for BMW in first half of 2017
Automotive group BMW delivered 1,220,819 vehicles to customers during the first six months of 2017, a 5% increase on the same period of last year.

This represents a record first-half performance for the company to go along with a record month of June, in which it delivered 232,620 vehicles. This was 2.1% more than in June 2016.

BMW said it achieved a 2% increase in sales in Europe, despite “recent downturns” in the region’s two largest markets, Germany and the UK. Sales in Asia were up 18.4% in the first half of the year, driven mainly by China.

The company saw its electrified vehicles sales increase 80% during the first six months of 2017. It explained that this was due to the successful expansion of its “electrification strategy”. It now offers nine electrified models, including from its Mini brand. It said it expects to deliver its 200,000th electrified vehicle later this year.
