BMW to train employees on-site at Mexico plant
Automotive group BMW has formally opened its new manufacturing plant in Mexico. It has invested more than $1 billion in the site, which is located in San Luis Potosi.

The company has said this plant currently employs 2,500 people and will have a total annual production capacity of 175,000 units once it is fully operational. It will build BMW’s 3 Series Sedan for customers around the world.

The opening ceremony has attended by a number of important figures, including Dr Juan Manuel Carreras López, governor of the state of San Luis Potosi, and Oliver Zipse, BMW board member responsible for production.

The plant has its own on-site training centre, where all new staff and apprentices will be trained in the latest production processes and technologies. BMW is working with four technical institutes in the local area to deliver training and has already trained 250 apprentices.
