BMW achieves first-half sales record
11/07/2019
The BMW brand, which is responsible for the majority of overall group sales, saw its sales increase by 1.6% year-on-year. The luxury Rolls-Royce brand delivered 42.3% more vehicles than in the first half of 2018. The one disappointment was the Mini brand, which saw a 3.9% decline in sales.
Asia was the star performer in terms of geographical regions, with sales to this region increasing 6.9%, led by growth of 16.8% in mainland China. However, there were declines in Europe (-2.1%) and the Americas (-1.8%).
Addressing the results, Pieter Nota, BMW board member responsible for customer, brands and sales, said: “Our model rollout is clearly having a positive impact on our sales result, with our exciting new vehicles getting very positive feedback from customers. In the first half year, we were able to counter the trend and grow sales above market, thereby gaining further market share.”
