USMEF leads beef producers on Japan trip

US beef producers joined companies specialising in pork, corn and soybean on a visit to Tokyo, which was organised by the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) to explore opportunities for further growth in Japan.

The producers met with major Japanese food importers and distributors, as well as visiting retail food stores and meat packing facilities. 

These visits gave an insight into Japanese consumers, in particular highlighting the importance they attach to where the food they eat comes from. It also allowed the producers to see first-hand how beef products are marketing to consumers in Japan.
