Real Leather, Stay Different winners announced in China

The final awards ceremony for China’s 2021 Real Leather, Stay Different competition was held recently in Xinji International Leather City in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, local media have reported.

The event was co-sponsored by China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) and the Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA).

Focusing on the competition’s clothing category, the event saw two winners announced from 55 finalists, themselves selected from a total 800 entries from 23 colleges and universities across the country.

Luo Jingtian and Cao Liwei from Jilin’s Northeast Dianli University were named joint winners, closely followed by Jiang Yinzhu and Hua Yangyang (both of Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology) in second and third place, respectively.

Other individual awards were given out for the leather clothing designs considered by the judges to have the most market potential, the best display of artisanship and the best use of colour.

In a speech, CLIA chairman, Li Yuzhong, underscored how the competition had inspired a new generation’s love for leather, including its sustainable qualities.

Due to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, the competition’s 2020 winners were also presented with their awards during this year’s ceremony.
