Tanzanians court Chinese for leather sector investment

21/09/2015
Press in Tanzania have reported that the leather sector was highlighted for investment at a meeting organised by the International Poverty Reduction Centre in China and China-Africa Development Fund.

Tanzania's livestock population has been increasing by 5% per year and with more than 21.3 million cattle, according to the report, which quoted executive director for Tanzania Investment Centre Juliette Kairuki as saying the sector was an important one for investment.

Only 10% of the skins are processed in the country and the aim is to secure Chinese funding to set up more tanneries.
