CLIA holds annual national conference in Shanxi
China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) recently held its tenth standing committee meeting under its current directorship, as well as an annual working conference for the Chinese leather industry in Taiyuan, Shanxi province.
High-ranking figures from local- and national-level leather industry associations, regional government representatives, scientific experts and leather specialists from other related enterprises all attended.
How to further develop a high-quality national leather industry and gain confidence amid the international covid-19 pandemic was a key topic of discussion, CLIA reported.
Plans for the future election (or re-election) of members of the ninth CLIA committee were approved, in addition to a motion to change the name of CLIA’s scholarship to the China Leather Industry Association-Yang Zheng Scholarship in one college and four universities.
Awards were also given out, including to Hebei Leather Industry Association (which was recognised for its “advanced” chamber of commerce) and Sun Jiajue, who was singled out among ten others for “advanced” work at the national level.
Notably, CLIA chairman, Li Yuzhong, delivered a speech on the topic of the leather industry’s role in China’s 14th five-year plan, which included how the “new” image of the Chinese leather industry going forward must be characterised by “green, fashionable and quality” development.
With the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party taking place this year, attendees also partook in joint “party building” activities in and around Taiyun Liberation Memorial Hall, a first for the Chinese leather industry, CLIA said.
