Inspired by CPC, Chinese leather leaders discuss strategy
The thirteenth national leather science and technology conference and twenty-third China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) science and technology committee annual meeting, plus a special CLIA tanning committee meeting, were all held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province in mid-November.
Inspired by the fifth plenary session of the nineteenth central committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which took place in late October and urged strategic national “scientific and technological self-reliance”, the three-day event was attended by high-ranking leather industry specialists and academics, as well as leading Ministry of Industry and Information Technology figures and other party members.
The 2020 CLIA leather industry science and technology leadership award ceremony, in addition to the third China leather artisan encouragement fund award ceremony, also took place during the event.
Secretary General of CLIA, Chen Zhanguang, touched upon the measures being taken by China’s leather industry to actively respond to the impact of synthetic substitutes on Chinese leather-making during his speech to delegates.
