‘Promising’ signs for Morocco’s leather sector
29/03/2019
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Leather ecosystems: fresh impetus for the sector’. There are more than 100 domestic and international exhibitors taking part, drawn from 12 countries.
Moroccan leather industry association Fedic, which organises the event, has said its aims include building a strong future for Morocco’s leather sector and highlighting the advantages of the sector, its know-how and the creativity of companies working within it. It also wants to stimulate knowledge exchange between different businesses.
In the build up to the event, representatives of Fedic said the Moroccan leather industry has shown year-on-year growth of 2%-3% in terms of exports and turnover. They described this sector as “promising” and said it had lots of potential for growth in the future.
Fedic added, however, that the leather sector faces a number of challenges that could prevent its development, including price competition and the lack of raw material supply.
