Finished product manufacturers only at new Moroccan leather park

The authorities in the Casablanca region of Morocco have approved the construction of a new industrial park, saying only “non-polluting” leather-sector firms will be able to operate there.

This appears to refer to manufacturers of finished products, including shoes, leathergoods and leather garments, rather than to tanners.

They have identified a ten-hectare site in the industrial area of Ahl Loghlam and have said the project will cost $10 million. Morocco’s industry ministry will contribute around $2.5 million towards that, according to local media reports.
