Fleshing and shaving blades maker Heusch recently took its workshop programme to Morocco. The company had previously organised workshops in Iran, South Africa, Taiwan and Turkey to refresh tanners’ understanding of fleshing and shaving.

On this occasion, the Heusch team visited leather manufacturing hubs in Fes, Casablanca and Marrakesh, with a good attendance in all three cities and all major tanneries in each region represented. In total, the company shared information on how to improve the quality of fleshing and shaving activities with around 50 people.

Discussion topics included measurement taking and calculation, dismounting and mounting of blades, tools, levelling and trouble-shooting.

Afterwards, managing director, Thomas Schaefer, said: “We know that Morocco is one of upcoming markets for leather and that the industry there has a huge potential if tanners succeed in improving the quality of their product. Now, with automotive leather being on the rise, quality and process stability are important targets for the industry.”
