Hazaribagh tanneries approach new deadline

05/04/2017
Bangladesh’s Supreme Court has ordered the owners of tanneries in the Hazaribagh cluster to stop all of their operations by April 6.

The order was issued on March 30. The court also fixed April 9 as the date when a petition from the tannery owners will be heard in relation to the fines imposed on them for not relocating their operations to the new cluster in Savar.

It came a day after the Bangladeshi High Court rejected a plea from tannery owners to continue their activities at Hazaribagh until September.
