Burberry ‘rejects takeover approaches from Coach’

06/12/2016
UK-based luxury brand Burberry has rejected multiple takeover attempts from US leathergoods group Coach, according to a report in the Financial Times.

The report says a deal would have created a group with a market value of about $20 billion. Talks have now ended with the discussions believed to have been on an informal basis.

Coach primarily sells leathergoods and handbags. In January 2015, it purchased luxury show brand Stuart Weitzman for $574 million in order to expand its presence in the footwear sector.
