US leathergoods brand Coach exceeded sales estimates in the financial quarter to July 2, supported by the launch of new products. Sales rose 15% to $1.15 billion.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with our team’s execution of the transformation plan over the last two years,” said Coach CEO, Victor Luis. He added that the company had also managed to “elevate brand perception globally”.

Net sales for the Coach brand were $1.07 billion, a 11% increase in currency-neutral terms on the same period of 2015. International sales for the brand rose 13% to $450 million.

Mr Luis said he was “very pleased” with the contribution of the Stuart Weitzman brand, which recorded sales of $84 million in the quarter.
