Burberry bags perform well

18/10/2016
Luxury brand Burberry has reported revenue of more than £1.1 billion for the first half of its 2016 business year, April to September. This figure represents an increase of 5% year on year, but the company said removing the effect of changes in exchange rates meant a 4% decline.

Its retail results were strong, up by 2% to £859 million, and its bags and accessories were its best performing category.

Commenting on the results, chief executive, Christopher Bailey, said: “The progress we are making to improve our ways of working, the agility of our teams to react to changes in consumer behaviour and the strength of our brand give us confidence for the future.”
