The preview of the collection comes in the shape of an advertising campaign shot by Mario Testino as the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, UK. It features models Jean Campbell and Alex Dragulele, musician Cavan McCarthy and a select group of Burberry artisans. Burberry says the collection and campaign were inspired by the work of British author Virginia Woolf.
“This campaign reflects a collection inspired by Virginia Woolf's Orlando and also sets out to honour the many skilled craftspeople who work on Burberry's iconic products,” said Christopher Bailey, chief creative and chief executive officer at Burberry.
Burberry also announced a collaboration with luxury goods retailer The New Craftsman, which will see it take up residence in a new show space, “Makers House”, during London Fashion Week. The venue will see some of the UK’s best artisans showcasing their original works, with the public able to visit from September 21-27 to see them in action.
Mr Bailey said the “exciting” collaboration was intended to honour “contemporary artisanal excellence”.
