Burberry chief operating officer to leave

Luxury brand Burberry has announced that John Smith, its chief operating officer, is to leave the company within the next year “to pursue new interests”. He has worked at Burberry for the last seven years.

Mr Smith said on making the announcement: “I have intensely enjoyed working for one of the world’s great luxury brands and I am proud of my contribution to the company’s success over this period.” He added that he was particularly happy to have helped put Burberry “in the vanguard of digital”.
