Richemont snaps up Italian leathergoods brand

14/11/2017
Luxury group Richemont has confirmed the acquisition of leathergoods brand Serapian. It purchased a 100% stake in the Italian company in August.

The Serapian family is no longer a shareholder in the company, but reports say they will continue to fill key roles. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Richemont has had a relationship with Serapian since the 1970s. The Milan-based company was a leather supplier for its Cartier and Dunhill brands for a number of years.

As well as its experience and expertise with exotic skins, Serapian also manufacturers bespoke leathergoods at its atelier in Milan and at a factory on the outskirts of the city.
