New leader for Richemont’s accessories brands

11/06/2018
Luxury group Richemont has announced the appointment of Eric Vallat to the position of director of fashion and accessories brands, a newly-created role.

Among the brands it owns are Chloé, Dunhill and Montblanc.

Mr Vallat arrives at Richemont following more than four years as CEO of French cognac producer Rémy Martin. He was previously general manager of footwear brand J.M. Weston and spent eight years at Louis Vuitton in various capacities.

This appointment would appear to be good news for the leathergoods brands in the Richemont portfolio.

The Swiss group recently sold French leathergoods brand Lancel to Italian group Piquadro.

However, following the release of its financial results for the year ending March 31, company chairman Johann Rupert insisted the group had “further focused on developing our capabilities in leathergoods” during the 2017-18 financial year.

In November 2017, it confirmed the acquisition of Italian leathergoods brand Serapian.
