Strong end to 2016 for Richemont

12/01/2017
Luxury group Richemont, which owns leathergoods brands Dunhill and Lancel as well as watchmaker Montblanc, reported revenue of $3.3 billion in the final three months of 2016, a 5% increase year-on-year.

The growth was driven by strong sales from the group’s jewellery businesses, which saw an 8% increase in revenue. It did not give a detailed breakdown of how its leathergoods division performed in the period, but it said the Montblanc brand had “posted good growth”.

Sales in Europe increased 3%; Richemont said this was primarily down to “robust local sales and tourist purchases” in the United Kingdom. Sales also grew in Asia Pacific and the Americas, which saw respective increases in revenue of 10% and 8%. There were minor dips in revenue in Japan and the Middle East/Africa region.
